SHILLONG: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is yet to make its stand clear on ILP even though the MUA-II coalition government has rejected its implementation.
Despite the CLP leader and Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has made his opposition to implantation of ILP public on several occasions, the party has not come in unison to support the Chief Minister and Government.
The 29-member CLP is yet to meet to show unanimity as far as the issue of ILP is concerned.
Taking advantage of the situation, Opposition UDP has already asked the Chief Minister to step down following the stalemate over ILP.
According to reports, all Congress legislators are not against ILP.
Moreover, several Congress members except Ampareen Lyngdoh, who was part of the High Level Committee on Influx, have not spoken against ILP.
Congress legislators — Dr RC Laloo, Prestone Tynsong and HDR Lyngdoh, the Chief Executive Members of KHADC, JHADC and GHADC, who are from Congress and former Congress legislator Lahkmen Rimbui who were part of the High Level Committee on Influx, have not made any adverse remarks against implementation of ILP system.
With no official word yet from Congress on its stand on ILP, the voice of the opposition parties-UDP, NPP, GNC, HSPDP and Independents have become louder in advocating ILP. This has also given a boost to the pro-ILP activists.
