Assam donates 10 cr to disaster-hit Himachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Sept 27/–/ The Assam government on Wednesday donated Rs 10 crore to the Himachal Pradesh government as contribution towards flood relief.

Assam minister of environment and forest Chandra Mohan Patowary handed over a cheque for Rs 10 crore to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the latter’s office in Shimla on behalf of the Assam government.

Notably, following the devastating floods that caused massive loss of life, property and infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh earlier this year, the Assam government had decided to contribute an amount Rs 10 crore towards the ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh 2023’ set up by Himachal Pradesh government for relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people in the state.

Receiving the cheque, the Himachal Pradesh chief minister expressed his gratitude to the Assam government led by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and also thanked forest minister Patowary for personally handing over the cheque.

He said that the contribution to the Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023 is invaluable in his government’s continuous efforts to aid those affected by the monsoon disaster in Himachal Pradesh.
