SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC came from a goal down to beat Nangkiew Irat 3-1 in their Shillong Premier League match at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Thursday.

Nangkiew and the Royals were both on 10 points before this match and the former were hurt by the red card picked up by Baskhem Shanpru in the 50th minute, following which all three of RWFC’s goals were scored.

A Rikomen Umsong strike in the 25th minute gave Nangkiew the lead and the team were the more dominant side during the first half.

The match was turned on its head after the break, however, with Laldinmawia equalising in the 51st minute.

David Lalthangsanga then scored a brace in the 55th and 58th minutes to help Wahingdoh pull off a stunning comeback.

RWFC now have 13 points and are in second place in the standings.

The defending champions have now won four matches on the trot and are in a strong position.

Nangkiew remain in third with 10 points from six games; this was their second defeat, after earlier losing to leaders Rangdajied United.

The next match will see Malki take on Pohkseh. A victory for Malki (on eight points) would see them overtake Nangkiew Irat.
