TURA, Feb 28: Employees of the GHADC protesting the non-release of their pending salaries have decided to return to work from Thursday.
President of the NGEA, Brithen Sangma announced amidst disappointment while at the same time informing that future course of action would be taken on the issue. The NGEA had earlier given a deadline of 7 days for authorities to respond to their demand.
However, with authorities choosing to remain mum, the association on Wednesday further extended the deadline for authorities to act till March 10.
“We are disappointed that the authorities have not responded to our demand. However, as permission given by the district administration was for only three days, we will return to our normal work routine from Thursday,” NGEA President Brithen Sangma informed.
Sangma, while requesting all employees to return to work, has urged the GHADC authorities to respond within March 10 while at the same time warning that an indefinite strike would be staged from March 11 if no response is given within the given deadline.
Meanwhile, the A’chik National Youth Organization (ANYO) has extended its support to the agitating employees while also assuring to take up the matter with concerned authorities.
