Assam Rifles celebrates 189th Raising Day

SHILLONG, March 24: Assam Rifles, the oldest and most decorated paramilitary forces of the country, celebrated its 189th Raising Day on Sunday. Raised in 1835, the force has provided yeoman service to the nation and contributed immensely in bringing peace in the Northeastern states.
Lt. Gen. PC Nair, DG of Assam Rifles, and all ranks of the force paid homage at the War Memorial in Shillong to the bravehearts for their supreme sacrifice.
The DG, in his address, complimented all ranks for their outstanding contribution in fighting insurgency in the Northeast and Kashmir.
