SHILLONG, May 6: The poor drainage system in different parts of Shillong continues to be exposed during heavy rains, as seen in the ongoing rainfall.
Continuous rain on Sunday revealed the issue again, with the road at Demseniong submerged.
Vehicles, including a few two-wheelers, were reported submerged or involved in accidents.
This area, along with Polo and Pynthorumkhrah, experiences flash floods yearly, yet there’s no visible action on the part of the government.
Sources said that the contractor who repaired the Demseniong road failed to address the area of drainage.
Similarly, Laban and Last Stop also faced significant water accumulation.
On the other hand, the road near the Governor’s House previously experienced waterlogging issues, which was promptly resolved by the government.
