SHILLONG, May 12: One person was killed while another was injured after a truck, coming from Mawblei towards Madanrting, dashed into a shop but not before ramming into three vehicles, one scooty and hitting a pedestrian, at around 10 pm on Saturday.
The incident occurred on the section of the road which curves near Madanrting police station.
Police said the driver of the truck (ML05 R 9977) lost control of his vehicle before hitting three vehicles, one scooty and a pedestrian after which it rammed into a shop.
The helper of the truck died on the spot while the driver escaped unhurt. The helper’s body was retrieved in the wee  hours on Sunday and was sent to NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem. The duo hails from Goalpara in Assam.
The injured pedestrian was also shifted to NEIGRIHMS.
