Advanced skills training in Tura

TURA, Aug 19: With the objective of empowering individuals with skills to enhance their employability and build entrepreneurial ownership, a 15-day advanced training course was conducted at College of Community Science, Sangsanggre, Tura, on Monday.
The 15-day training on Handloom and Handicraft and Bakery and Confectionary was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal Dr Anupam Mishra, as the chief Guest.
It may be mentioned that the course is being implemented under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) which was sponsored by the Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Meghalaya and organized by the Department of Textile and Apparel Designing, CCS, CAU (I), Tura, and Department of Food Science and Nutrition CCS, CAU (I), Tura.
Addressing the participants during the inaugural function of Executive Course on Handloom and Handicraft and Bakery and Confectionary, the Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal Dr Anupam Mishra highlighted the history and importance of handloom and weaving industry in earlier days in the country and urged the participants to hone their skills in wider perspective.
Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, General Manager, District Commerce and Industries Centre (DCIC), Don Felicient R Marak, informed that the Advanced Training programme for 15 days is organised for two Trades namely, Handloom and Handicraft and Bakery and Confectionery which is being held simultaneously for participants of Garo Hills region in Tura and for Khasi and Jaintia Hills in Shillong adding that the participants have been selected from all the five district of Garo Hills which is being implemented under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP).
Meanwhile, Dean, CCS, CAU (I), Tura Dr. Jyoti V Vastrad, who delivered the keynote address informed that the participants for the Advanced training programme were selected by the District Commerce and Industries Centre, Tura systematically and training would be imparted by the faculty members of College of Community Science, Tura.
Earlier during the function the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour along with other dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp.
