SHILLONG, Sep 1: The Opposition camp is highly unsatisfied with the recently-concluded autumn session of the Assembly, stating that paucity of time prevented them from take up many important issues concerning the state.
“I have already spelled out the grievances. It was not satisfactory. We did not have enough time and whenever we asked them to extend, they never listened,” VPP MLA Adelbert Nongrum said.
He said due to shortage of time, key issues could not be discussed or debated upon.
“The government should have been more serious about conducting the session,” he stated.
Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh echoed Nongrum and recalled that only a handful of issues were taken up during the question hour.
“For question hour we get only one hour where only four or five questions are taken up. Important matters are left out,” he said.
Asked his observation on the role played by the Opposition in the session, he said, “We did all right, but if we had better coordination we could have taken up more important issues together. Let’s hope we can come to some understanding and flag issues jointly.”
TMC chief Charles Pyngrope, however, described the session as fruitful.
