SHILLONG: Police have booked the president and general secretary of the KSU Lawsohtun unit Johny Sohkhlet and Readyon Stone Nongrum @ Hep respectively under the Meghalaya Preventive Detention Act (MPDA) for their alleged involved in the Bishnupur arson case resulting in the death of a tea stall owner Bisheshwar Das(45).

The duo was also shifted to Williamnagar Jail on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a total number of 66 cases have been registered against FKJGP assistant information and publicity secretary Reginald Ronald Thabah in various police stations.

Earlier, the family members of the FKJGP leader questioned police for booking him under other criminal cases even after his detention under MPDA was withdrawn.

East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang on Thursday had said that Thabah did not get bail in regular cases and there are many cases against him.

Thabah, booked under MPDA, was later released from detention on the advice of the Governor after he had appeared before the Advisory Board which is dealing with the MPDA related cases.
