SHILLONG, Oct 5: The state government has constituted an expert committee headed by Tourism Director, Cyril V Diengdoh to look into the demands of the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxis Association (AKMTTA).
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said the expert committee will hold a meeting with the association next week.
Asked if the government will consider the demand of the association to implement the policy similar to Sikkim where tourist taxis from other states drop off passengers at designated locations only, Lyngdoh said the government will keep an open mind in order to resolve the issue.
“Once the talks move forward, the committee will apprise me of the possible solutions,” the minister said.
He also informed that the various stakeholders of tourism, including the AKMTTA, had met last week to deliberate on the issues.
