SHILLONG, Oct 20: At a time when the SSA teachers are staging an indefinite protest to demand enhancement of their salaries, the Education department has issued an order making it mandatory for the SSA teachers to submit their attendance on the Teacher Information Management System (TIMS) application.
State Project Director, State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya (SEMAM), Swapnil Tembe in a recent order observed that the extent of daily attendance reporting in  the TIMS App is unsatisfactory and defeats the purpose of accountability and administrative alignment.
He said that the TIMS App is to emphasize the importance of ensuring that all Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in the respective districts are registered and actively using the app for attendance submission which shall ensure the presence of teachers in the respective schools.
“Therefore, the attendance submission on the TIMS app shall now be mandatory requirement for all SSA teachers. This shall enable the department to hold accurate records of teacher attendance and the same shall be aligned with the release of salaries through the PFMS system,” Tembe said.
He further stated that additionally, DMCs are to monitor regularly by way of inspections to ensure that all teachers submit their attendance daily on the TIMS app without fail.
