JOWAI, Nov 3: In an act of compassion, a local duo of Praising Sumer from Nongthymme Sehlama village and his friend Edmond Pyrtuh rescued an endangered Loris while travelling from Khanduli to Namdong on Friday. The pair spotted the slow-moving animal near a site known as “Riat Moobsain” and quickly took action to secure it safely.
Recognisng the importance of their discovery, Sumer and Pyrtuh took the Loris home, hoping to provide it with food. Unsure of the animal’s dietary needs, they soon alerted the Forest department for expert assistance.
The following day, officials from the Forest department arrived to take the Loris into safe custody, ensuring it would receive proper care. Sumer expressed his gratitude for the chance to protect the endangered creature and emphasized the importance of safeguarding vulnerable wildlife. He hopes this incident will encourage others to protect, rather than harm, endangered species.
