Dry day
Ri-Bhoi District Magistrate Dr. Pooja Pandey has ordered closure of all IMFL retails shops, bars, hotels, bonded warehouses, country made spirit shops, out stills, breweries, canteens etc., in the district on January 26 on account of Republic Day.
Pulse polio
The West Garo Hills District Medical and Health Officer has informed that the first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization programmes 2014 is scheduled on January 27. Concerned parents have been asked to bring their children aged 0-5 years to the nearest polio booth for immunization and administration of two drops of oral polio vaccine irrespective of their previous immunization status.
Scout gathering
Damang K KHongwir will represent India at the 6th International Scout Gathering to be held from February 1-10 at Sharjah, UAE. He is the only candidate selected from the country out of 75 lakh scout members.

Campaign for an Independent Lokayukta convener Michael Syiem has informed that as a part of the campaign for demanding a strong and independent Lokayukta in Meghalaya, a street corner meeting will be held on January 22 at 6 pm at Jaiaw Laitdom, Mawbynna.
Workshop
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary will organise a workshop on livestock entrepreneurship on January 22 at 11 am at San Mer Secondary School, Upper Shillong. Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma will be the chief guest while AH&V Minister Deborah Marak will be the guest of honour.
