SHILLONG: The famous Mawsmai Cave in Sohra, East Khasi Hills, now has an added attraction for visitors.

An upper storey of the Cave, with a length of about 100 metres, has recently been opened for tourists.

Well lit by halogen lamps, the entire corridor of the upper Cave is connected with specially constructed pathway to enable easy access to visitors.

The stalactites and stalagmites in the upper Cave are covered with bright crystals which glitter in the artificial light, seen as the main attraction in the upper cave.

The cave is owned and maintained by the Dorbar Shnong of Mawsmai-Nongthymmai Elaka.

The Dorbar Shnong has invited tourists to visit the Cave and enjoy the splendour of the upper Cave without any additional charge.
