SHILLONG: South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Chinmay P Gotmare, has made a peculiar request to the Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, to buy a car for him and the additional deputy commissioner out of the interest earned from land acquisition funds.
In a reminder letter recently addressed to the Principal Secretary, Gotmare said that his office has earned an interest of Rs.1,24,24,062 out of the land acquisition funds deposited in the saving bank account of the Deputy Commissioner, and sought for two cars for himself and his deputy.
Gotmare also urged the Principal Secretary to give his views and comments on whether the ‘car’ proposal would be agreed to or not.
