Sharjah: Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav stole the limelight with individual brilliance as a strong India continued their unbeaten run with a crushing 245-run win over minnows Papua New Guinea in the Under-19 World Cup here on Wednesday.

Opting to bat in their last league match, the defending champions posted 301 for six before bowling out their hapless opponents for just 56 in 28.2 overs. The convincing victory ensured India topped the group.

Samson led the way with a blistering 85 off 48 balls.

Defending a big total on what did not seem like the best of batting surfaces, left-arm spinner Yadav returned impressive figures of 4-10 in 8.2 overs.

Meanwhile, three-time former champions Australia and dark horses Afghanistan progressed from Group B to the next round.

Australia beat Bangladesh by 74 runs, while Afghanistan scored 130 runs in boundaries as they sprinted to the 192-run target in under 26 overs to beat Namibia by four wickets.

In another match, Karamat Ali captured 5-36 as Pakistan brushed aside the challenge of Scotland by 146 runs in a one-sided Group A game. (PTI)
