NEIGRIHMS holds ‘Hygeia 2025’ to improve healthcare standards

Shillong, March 23: Over 140 delegates including healthcare staff from various hospitals in Shillong and nearby healthcare facilities attended the ‘Hygeia 2025’, the Swachhta Conference and shared ideas and innovative approaches for improving hygiene standards.
The conference organised by The Department of Sanitation, NEIGRIHMS on Friday emphasized the unique way of promoting various cleanliness and sanitation practices at the health care institute to achieve a target of health for all. It highlighted various issues related to infection control in hospitals, and cleanliness protocols in critical areas including operation theatres and ICUs. The conference also highlighted aspects of stress and mental health of sanitation staff.
Faculty from IHM Shillong and the State Pollution Control Board enlightened the participants about the safe food practices and medical waste management.
Speaking to the gathering Prof. Vandana Raphael officiating Director NEIGRIHMS congratulated the department on organizing such a conference which will enhance knowledge amongst the various sections involved in cleanliness and hygiene maintenance at health care institutes. A ‘Best out of Waste’ and quiz competition was held during the programme where Supercare Hospital, Mawiong CHC and NEIGRIHMS won first, second and third prizes in the ‘Best out of Waste’ competition respectively and Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, Ganesh Das Hospital and Civil Hospital bagged the prizes for the quiz competition respectively.
