Tuki allocates portfolios to newly inducted ministers

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has allocated portfolios to the newly inducted cabinet ministers, affecting a reshuffle in his 27-month-old ministry, official sources said here on Sunday. While allocating the portfolios on Saturday Tuki retained Planning and Finance while Gojen Gadi was allocated the PWD department, sources said. Three-time Finance Minister Kalikho Pul was given Health & Family Welfare, Economics & Statistics, and Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs. Kumar Waii was allocated the Rural Works Department (RWD), sources added. The chief minister affected the reshuffle of his 27-month-old ministry after dropping Finance, Planning and PWD Minister Chowna Mein, Health and Family Welfare Minister Atum Welly and Transport and Cooperation Minister Jarkar Gamlin. UGC selects St. Joseph’s College of Nagaland for CCC course

Kohima: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has selected St Joseph’s College, Jakhama, near Kohima, to offer Community College Courses (CCC) for skill oriented courses to cater to career oriented education and skills to students interested in directly entering the workforce. According to a statement issued by the Principal St Joseph College Fr Abraham Lotha, ‘We are serious about providing employable and certifiable skills to our students.’ Beginning from February, St Joseph’s College has started diploma courses in tourism and service industry, and desktop publishing for the regular students of the college. These courses are integrated into the higher education system. St Joseph’s will also conduct a six months certificate course in Tourism and service industry at the Development Authority of Nagaland at 4th Mile in Dimapur, from the month this month. The Community College courses will improve the chances of the students getting employment when they finish college, he added. (UNI)

Miscreants hurl grenade at trader’s house

Kohima: Two unidentified miscreants hurled a hand grenade at the residence of a businessman’s residence on Saturday at Marwari Patti in Dimapur. Official sources today said there was no report of injury or loss of properties as the hand-grenade failed to explode. According to source, the domestic help of the businessman saw two unidentified miscreants, who first took out a pistol and hurled the grenade into the house and fled from the scene. The source also informed it was still yet to ascertain whether the miscreants were local or non-local as their faces were covered. Meanwhile, The Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland also condemned the incident of ‘grenade throwing by two unidentified miscreants’ at the resident of a businessman at Marwaripatti, Dimapur.
