HILLONG: The State Government has increased the rate for transporting the forest produce from Meghalaya to outside the state by amending the transit rules.
As per the notification laid in the Assembly in this regard by the Forest Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday, all trucks carrying the forest produce, broomstick from any forest area for removal outside the state will be levied Rs 500 per truck, at flat rate for issuing of transit passes.
Moreover, all trucks carrying the forest produce, tezpatta from any forest area for removal outside the state will be levied Rs 60 per truck which is a flat rate for issuing transit passes.
The trucks will have to pay Rs 5,000 to obtain transit passes for carrying dhupwood from any forest or non forest area.
The trucks carrying bamboo to outside the state will be levied Rs 1000 and the amount for carrying firewood, cane and bark (other than cinnamon bark) will be Rs 5,000.
Rs 300 per truck will be levied for transit passes to carry cinnamon bark from any forest area or non-forest area for removal outside the state.
All trucks carrying minor minerals from any forest area or non forest area will be levied Rs 1000 while, the trucks carrying round timber, sawn timber and timber in other forms from any source for removal outside the state will be levied Rs 5000 per truck (including logs with or without bark) for issuing of transit passes provided that these trucks have not been charged for, under any other regulatory Forest Act or provision, according to the notification.
The amount to be collected from the trucks will be realized at the State Forest Check Gates established along the interstate boundary, the notification added.
