MLCU’s 2-day workshop on tourism & music culminates

SHILLONG, June 18: Curtain came down on a two-day workshop titled ‘Storytelling in Tourism and Music: Bridging Culture, Emotion, and Experience through Theatre’, jointly organised by the departments of Tourism and Travel Management and Music at Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Nongrah.
According to a statement, the workshop, which culminated here on Wednesday, was designed to enhance students’ creative storytelling abilities and theatrical skills, while fostering cultural sensitivity, emotional intelligence and effective communication.
During the workshop, renowned theatre artist Lapdiang Syiem facilitated the sessions, bringing her distinctive storytelling methods rooted in Khasi folklore.
“Through engaging activities, students explored body movement, memory and space in performance, while also learning about technical elements such as lighting, props, and set design. Participants included second-semester students from BTTM and MA Music, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration,” the statement said.
Participants included second-semester students from both the Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) and MA Music programmes.
