SHILLONG, July 10: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 30.40 crore for Meghalaya as central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support the state in battling the brunt of this year’s intense southwest monsoon.
The allocation comes as part of a larger Rs 1,066.80 crore relief package extended to six states, including four from the Northeast — Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram.
The announcement was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who stated that the Centre remains firmly committed to supporting states in times of crisis.
“Modi govt stands resolutely beside the states in all situations. Today the central government has approved Rs 1066.80 crore for flood- and landslide-affected states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand as part of the central share under SDRF,” he wrote in a social media post.
