Workshop in city aims to bolster teachers’ emotional intelligence

SHILLONG, July 30: In a bid to foster emotional well-being among students through empowered teaching, Meghalaya Together, a socio-cultural organisation, in collaboration with the Block Resource Centre, 12-Shnong, Laitkroh, successfully organised a programme titled ‘Strengthening Teachers’ Emotional Intelligence for Students’ Mental Well-Being’.
According to a statement, the event, which was held at Prime Hub IVCS, Diengkynthong, on Tuesday, brought together 57 teachers, 12 Cluster Resource Persons and three Block Resource Persons under the leadership of P. Rynjah, Block Mission Coordinator, 12-Shnong, Laitkroh Block.
“The workshop recognised the critical role of teachers in shaping not only the academic outcomes but also the emotional landscapes of their students. The program focused on building teachers’ emotional intelligence, self-awareness, empathy and relationship management, so that they can better respond to the need of learners in and beyond the classroom,” the statement said.
The day-long programme featured a blend of interactive sessions, group discussions and expert-led workshops facilitated by certified Life Coach, Shikha Shinchury.
