Nongstoin, Aug 27: Various groups from the district of West Khasi Hills (WKH) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma seeking the completion of a road between Shallang to Khalu via Rengdim pending for over a decade.
The project, as per them, has been delayed for over a decade causing serious issues with communication. It falls under PMGSY in the Shallang C&RD Block. The complaint was filed by the United A.chik Youth Federation and All Khasi Hills Nokma Welfare Association and submitted on Wednesday.
Further the 4-5 bridges that have been sanctioned for the road also remain incomplete, causing immense difficulties in terms of transportation to the people of several villages.
What is worse is that during the monsoon, travel by vehicles on this road is near impossible due to its slippery nature. To travel to the Shallang C&RD office or other government offices is an absolute nightmare for those having to use the road on a normal basis.
