SHILLONG, Sep 3: In line with the Chief Minister’s CM Connect initiative, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, RM Kurbah, convened the first-ever District Connect programme at St. Francis D’Assisi School, Mawkasiang, under Mawpat C&RD Block on Wednesday.
The programme aimed to foster direct community interaction, provide on-the-spot grievance redressal, and strengthen the link between citizens and the administration. During the event, organised in collaboration with the office of the BDO, more than 20 grievances raised by headmen and representatives of various villages and localities were taken up. Several were resolved immediately, while concerned departments assured action on others. In some cases, estimates were prepared for follow-up measures, and site visits were scheduled in consultation with local leaders to ensure timely implementation.
Moderating the session, the Deputy Commissioner said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance by ensuring that voices are heard and concerns addressed without delay.
It may be noted that the CM Connect platform has also enhanced citizen engagement by streamlining communication between the government and the people, offering convenient channels for residents to raise grievances, inquiries, and concerns.
The programme was attended by Project Director, DRDA, PT Passah; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shanborlang Warjri; BDO of Mawpat Block, Silvester Phanbuh; officials from various line departments; headmen and representatives of villages and localities under Mawpat C&RD Block; as well as stakeholders from VECs, VHCs, SHGs, VOs, and CLFs.
