Sexual assault of minor: Charge sheet against Assam cop in record 13 days

SHILLONG, Sep 10: In a record time of just 13 days, police have filed charge sheet against an Assam Police personnel accused of sexually assaulting a minor in Ri-Bhoi district.
Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh, said that the case was reported on August 27 from a village under Block-II, within the jurisdiction of Mawlasnai Outpost.
The accused, identified as LNK/121 Projen Langthasa of the 18th APBN, Lumding, allegedly sexually assaulted a girl child.
The accused was initially apprehended by villagers but managed to escape before being tracked down by the police.
The FIR was filed on August 28, and Langthasa was arrested on August 30.
Following seamless investigation, the charge sheet was submitted on September 10, marking one of the fastest case disposals of its kind in the district.
