SHILLONG: Militant outfits of the State have resorted to varied views on the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for Wednesday.
While in Khasi- Jaintia Hills, the banned HNLC has declared a dawn-to-dusk 12-hour bandh starting from 5 am on Wednesday, the ANVC, currently under ceasefire, has asserted that the outfit will play a neutral role in the elections.
Besides the offer of talks with the State Government, the GNLA, a major militant outfit in Garo Hills, has refrained from issuing any specific statement on the Lok Sabha elections.
LAEF on the other hand has asked the people not to engage in money or muscle power, but to choose the right candidate and practice ethical voting.
Without naming anyone, LAEF vice president in charge of political affairs, Dilseng Marak, in a statement to the media said that the voters should “cast their votes for a responsible candidate who will fight for a separate state for Garos”.
