TURA, Sep 22: The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of West Garo Hills arrested two drug peddlers on Saturday. As per reports, acting on reliable inputs, ANTF conducted a naka check near Kokaimari area falling under Phulbari police station and intercepted a car (AS01FQ 8148) from Guwahati.
Upon searching the vehicle, the team discovered five soap cases containing 53.67 grams of suspected heroin, hidden beneath one of the occupants’ seat.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the contraband was collected from Guwahati ISBT and was supposed to be delivered to one Fazadur of Gomaijhora in West Garo Hills. A case (Phulbari PS No. 40/2025) under NDPS has been registered.
Accordingly, the vehicle, suspected drugs as well as other belongings were seized and two of the suspects, namely, Sahidur Islam (32) of Bholarbitha and Nizam Uddin Laskar (39) were arrested and subsequently forwarded to court, said district police chief Abraham T Sangma..
