Biker killed, bus gutted in road mishap

SHILLONG, Sep 24: A motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday night after his KTM Duke (ML 05 Y3698) collided head-on with a night bus (AS 01GV3288) near Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The accident occurred around 10:20 pm when the bike, coming from the wrong side, rammed into the bus travelling from Guwahati to Shillong. The impact caused the bus to catch fire and was completely gutted, though all passengers escaped unhurt. Swift action by the Fire and Emergency team helped douse the flames.
The unidentified rider died on the spot, and his body has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
