London, Sep 27: Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted he is not worried about his job, following another frustrating Premier League result that left the club struggling in the lower half of the table.
The optimism sparked by last week’s 2-1 win over Chelsea quickly faded as United suffered a 3-1 defeat at Brentford, highlighting the inconsistency that has plagued the team this season. Under Amorim, United have now collected 34 points from 33 league games and are yet to secure back-to-back wins.
Despite expectations of improvement following last season’s disappointing 15th-place finish, the progress promised under Amorim has yet to materialise. After the Brentford loss, the Portuguese coach was again quizzed about his future at Old Trafford.
“I am never concerned about my job – I am not that kind of guy,” Amorim told BBC Match of the Day. “It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here.”Club officials have repeatedly affirmed their support for the former Sporting boss. However, defeats like the one at Brentford tend to fuel speculation, especially with no midweek fixtures to deflect attention. (Agencies)
