TURA, Sep 30: As part of the ongoing Swasthya Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA) campaign in South West Garo Hills, the District Health Society organised a day-long Health Mela at Rongramgre village under Belbari PHC on Monday and a Blood Donation Camp at Ampati Civil Hospital premises on Tuesday.
The events were held under the leadership of Hema Nayak, Deputy Commissioner & Chairperson of the District Health Society.
The health camp saw participation from the entire medical team, including specialists from Ampati Civil Hospital, who provided a range of healthcare services to the residents.
And a two-day medical check-up camp commenced on Tuesday at Composite Hospital BSF Shillong under the aegis of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan.” The camp was organized under the supervision of DIG (Medical)/Medical Superintendent R. C. Bishariya, with the objective of promoting women’s health and conducting disease screening.
The camp placed special emphasis on cervical cancer screening through PAP smear tests, breast cancer screening, dental check-ups, and diagnosis of common health issues prevalent among women, including anemia, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. Necessary blood investigations were also carried out at the CH Laboratory.
Launched on September 17, the fortnight-long SNSPA campaign aimed at promoting comprehensive health screenings for women, with immunisation and nutritional support to reduce maternal and child mortality. The campaign will continue up to October 2.
