SHILLONG, Oct 23: Ri-Bhoi Police has filed the charge sheeted in the sexual assault and murder of a child in the district.
Ri-Bhoi Senior Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh Rathore said that the charge sheet was filed on October 22 against Iainehskhem Kharsati for allegedly committing sexual assault and murder of the child.
The case was registered a day after the recovery of the 13-year-old victim’s body on October 9.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector S. Ryngksai, posted at Umiam Police Station.
Rathore said the investigation was completed in 13 days as per the commitment of the Ri-Bhoi Police to file the charge sheet within two weeks.
Kharsati was arrested within 24 hours of the crime being reported. He has reportedly confessed to sexually assaulting the child before murdering her.
