NONGPOH, Oct 23: The Adventurous Hynñiewtrep Off Roaders (AHOR), one of Meghalaya’s leading off-road driving clubs, has once again taken adventure to the next level with the 7th edition of the AHOR 4×4 Off-Road Challenge, held at Mawlyndep village, Umiam, in Ri-Bhoi District on Thursday.
According to AHOR officials, a total of 60 participants competed across three categories — Stock, Semi-Modified, and Pro-Modified. Notably, as in previous editions, this year’s challenge also featured women drivers, adding vibrancy and inclusivity to the competition.
Bringing added joy to the organisers, the event has been officially included in the Meghalaya Autumn Calendar of the Meghalaya Tourism Department, alongside flagship events such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, Winter Tales, and Me•Gong Festival. The inclusion — coupled with support from the Tourism Department of Meghalaya — added special significance as AHOR celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
Founded in 2015, AHOR has evolved into a prominent platform promoting off-road sporting culture in Meghalaya. Over the years, it has nurtured a strong community of adventure enthusiasts and encouraged young talents passionate about tackling some of the toughest terrains. This year’s edition marks a major milestone in the club’s decade-long journey of fostering adventure, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The event was formally inaugurated by Damian Umdor, President of AHOR, in the presence of Ferdynald Kharkamni (Vice President), Ferdinand Jahrin (General Secretary), Robin Markhap, club members, and several dignitaries.
Adding to the excitement, AHOR has announced a total prize pool of ₹8 lakh, which will be awarded to winners across all three categories, along with trophies and other recognitions. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on the final day of the event, October 25, 2025.
