SHILLONG: Counting of votes for both Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats will be held in all the 13 centres across the State on May 16 with the Election Commission clearing the request of the State Election department in this regard, an Election official said.
Earlier, the Election Commission of India had asked the Election Department to arrange for counting of votes only in two centres – Shillong and Tura.
The State Election department had apprised the Election Commission of the inconvenience in bringing the EVMs from the 11 district headquarters and two civil subdivisions to Shillong and Tura for the counting process, following which the EC accorded permission for counting to be held in all the 13 centres.
