Shillong students showcase ideas at science exhibition

SHILLONG, Oct 31: As many as 23 Shillong-based schools on Friday came together for an Inter-School Science Model Exhibition, which was organised by Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School as part of its year-long sesquicentennial celebrations.
According to a statement here, the exhibition, held under the theme ‘Science and Technology for Society’, showcased innovative projects and ideas from students across the city.
The judges for the competition were Dr Samrat Paul, Associate Professor, Department of Energy Engineering, NEHU; Dr DR Choudhury, Former Head, Department of Electronics, St Edmund’s College; and Dr Mahesh Ram, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, St Edmund’s College.
The exhibition was presided over by school principal Amit Thapa.
It may be mentioned that a team from Laban Bangelee Boys Higher Secondary School won the first prize, while Gorkha Secondary School, Upper Shillong, secured the second position. On the other hand, the third prize was jointly shared by Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School and Lady Keane Higher Secondary School.
