SHILLONG, Nov 12: Army Public School, Shillong, held its Annual Sports Meet on Tuesday and Wednesday, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition among students.
The event was inaugurated by Brig. Kanwar Jitendra Singh, SM, Chairman of the school. The opening ceremony featured a colourful Pom Pom Drill by students of Classes 1 and 2, followed by a yoga performance titled “Soulful Stretches” by students of Classes 6 to 8. A March Past led by the School Captains saw participation from all five contingents — the NCC cadets, Gandhi House, Naidu House, Nehru House and Radhakrishnan House.
The closing ceremony was graced by Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, SM, GOC 101 Area and Senior Patron of the school, as chief guest, and Maj Gen Naveen Kumar Thapliyal, COS 101 Area, as the guest of honour. The celebrations included a lively “Waving Flags” drill, a Zumba performance, relay races, sprints and a spirited tug of war between teachers and students.
Radhakrishnan House was declared the “Cock House”, winning the overall championship trophy. In his address, Lt Gen Wadhwa lauded the students for their enthusiasm, discipline and teamwork, and commended the faculty for their commitment to nurturing both academic and co-curricular excellence.
The two-day event concluded with the formal declaration of the meet’s closure, marking a memorable end to the annual celebration of talent and triumph.
