One dead, two hurt in NH-6 road mishap

NONGPOH, Nov 19: One person was killed on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries in a collision between a Maruti Alto and a Toyota Innova on NH-6 at 12th Mile, Byrnihat, on Wednesday morning.
According to information received, the accident occurred at around 10:30 am when the Maruti Alto (ML-10-C-7094), which was heading towards Byrnihat at high speed, suddenly swerved across the highway and crashed head-on into an oncoming Toyota Innova (ML-10-S-0011).
The driver of the Alto has been identified as Helin Lyngdoh, who was travelling alone at the time of the incident. The Innova was driven by Manish Kumar Jha and had two other occupants on board.
Police personnel from the Byrnihat outpost rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and shifted the occupants to the Byrnihat CHC.
Medical officials declared the Alto driver dead before arrival, while the two injured occupants of the Innova, who suffered serious injuries, were referred to hospitals in Guwahati for advanced treatment.
