PREMIER LEAGUE

London, Nov 29: A thrilling weekend of Premier League action delivered a rollercoaster of emotions for fans, with late strikes and remarkable comebacks shaping three unforgettable encounters. From Etihad heroics to torrential rains in the North-East and late drama at Brentford, the action kept supporters on the edge of their seats.

Foden’s Brace Seals Hard-Fought Win for Man City

Manchester City’s Phil Foden proved once again why he is one of the Premier League’s brightest talents, scoring in both the opening and closing moments to secure a 3-2 win over a resilient Leeds United side at the Etihad. City looked unstoppable early, racing into a one-minute lead after a polished team move orchestrated by Matheus Nunes and Bernardo Silva. Foden met Nunes’ pinpoint cross with a clinical volley off the underside of the crossbar, sending the home crowd into delirium.
The Blues doubled their advantage in the 25th minute through a Josko Gvardiol finish, following a Foden corner that saw Nico O’Reilly drop the ball perfectly for the Croatian defender. After a lengthy VAR review, City’s lead stood at two. Despite further opportunities from Nico and Tijjani Reijnders, the first half ended with City in control, though not without signs of defensive vulnerability. Leeds came out firing in the second half, making two attacking substitutions immediately after the break. Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalised on a lapse from Nunes to pull one back, while Lukas Nmecha later converted a penalty rebound after Donnarumma had initially denied him. The game looked destined for a draw, but Foden’s low-driven strike in the first minute of added time sealed a dramatic victory, sending the Etihad into raptures.

Sunderland Rally from Two Down to Overturn Bournemouth

In the North-East, Sunderland produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Bournemouth 3-2 in a rain-soaked contest, climbing to fourth place in the Premier League.
Bournemouth had taken an early lead in the seventh minute through Amine Adli, capitalising on a post-hit from Evanilson’s cross. The visitors extended their advantage with an audacious long-range lob from Tyler Adams, leaving Sunderland keeper Robin Roefs stranded.
Bournemouth pushed for a late equaliser and came agonisingly close when Marcus Tavernier’s effort hit the crossbar. The match ended in controversy when substitute Lewis Cook received a straight red card in stoppage time for elbowing Noah Sadiki, leaving Sunderland to celebrate a hard-fought and well-earned victory that ended their three-match winless run.

Thiago Double Lifts Brentford Over Burnley

At Brentford Community Stadium, Igor Thiago delivered a late show to fire Brentford to a 3-1 triumph over a struggling Burnley side, marking their fourth consecutive defeat. The match had been cagey, with chances at a premium until Thiago broke the deadlock in the 81st minute from the penalty spot, following a foul on Dango Ouattara.
Burnley responded immediately, with Zian Flemming converting a spot-kick of his own to level, but Thiago restored Brentford’s lead just a minute later, smashing home after Jordan Henderson’s incisive delivery caused chaos in the Burnley box.
Injury-time substitute Ouattara then capped off the scoring, ensuring the hosts left with all three points.(Agencies)
