Shillong, Dec 4: A Hindi Workshop, aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in government office work, was organised at the office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Meghalaya. The event took place in the Conference Room and saw enthusiastic participation from officers and employees.
The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Sr. Deputy Accountant General (Administration), Dhanlaxmi Chourasia, who highlighted the purpose of the initiative. She stated that the primary goal of the workshop was to help participants gain practical experience in using Hindi for official tasks such as draft and noting preparation. She emphasised that conducting such workshops, as guided by the Official Language Department, plays an important role in encouraging the use of Hindi in day-to-day official work and in overcoming hesitation among employees. She expressed hope that the training would help participants improve their writing skills, including handwriting and correspondence.
The workshop was graced by Sr. Audit Officer, Aquarius Mathew, and featured Professor MP Pandey from the Hindi Department of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, who served as the resource person. Professor Pandey conducted two sessions—“Noting and Draft Writing” in the first half and “Hindi Correspondence” in the second—along with practical exercises for the attendees.
A total of 16 officers and employees took part in the workshop. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mohammad Ziaul Hoque, Assistant Director (Official Language), marking the successful completion of the programme.
