Ticket sales have already gone live, and the internet is buzzing, with hashtags like #DefLeppardIndia trending across fan pages and concert forums.
Notably, this marks the band’s first full-scale headliner tour in India—and it begins in Shillong!
Netizens from Shillong and nearby regions have expressed overwhelming enthusiasm and pride over the announcement, calling it “a milestone for the Northeast’s live music scene,” “a recognition of Shillong’s concert heritage,” and “a major event that promises world-class rock music experiences on home ground.”

Winter Tales and festival vibes
The chill of mid-December has settled over Shillong like a familiar blanket, crisp and invigorating, turning every breath into a fleeting cloud. On Saturday, Ward’s Lake bid farewell to the sixth edition of Winter Tales, Meghalaya’s cherished community-driven festival that transforms the serene spot into a vibrant hub of culture and sustainability.
Hosted in December every year, it’s an apt name for a festival that encompasses Shillong’s soul.
This year’s theme, “Nurture,” perfectly captured the essence—the deep bonds between culture, craft, community, and the land and its people. Stalls woven from bamboo, jute, and cane lined the pathways, displaying exquisite handwoven textiles, pottery, and wooden sculptures, all sourced locally in a zero-waste ethos.
The mood was surreal with storytelling sessions, live art, and workshops on zero-waste culinary delights to collective responsibility for the environment. Evenings came alive with soulful performances by local talents under the starry night, reflecting Shillong’s love affair with winter.
With Winter Tales wrapping up, the city seamlessly slips into the Christmas mode. Streets are beginning to twinkle with lights, churches prepare for carols, and markets are buzzing with shoppers hunting for woollens and gifts.
Hopefully, there will be more tales to narrate in the coming seasons.
