SHILLONG, Dec 18: The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) on Thursday installed a protective gate at a transformer enclosure in Lama Villa, following a report published in The Shillong Times.
The action follows safety concerns raised by the Lama Villa Dorbar Shnong regarding the previously unsecured and dilapidated entrance. The Dorbar Shnong stated it had submitted multiple representations to the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) since August, requesting a barricade to protect residents and children from potential mishaps.
The local body alleged that despite several reminders, authorities failed to act until the issue was highlighted in the media.
