SHILLONG, Dec 18: The state government on Thursday held consultations on the proposed flyover alignment from the Rhino Junction area to Barik Junction.
The discussions focused on various alignment options, measures to ease traffic congestion, and ensuring smooth connectivity.
Technical and infrastructure considerations were also deliberated, with plans for further studies before finalising the project, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said.
It may be recalled that the initial plan was to construct a flyover from Rilbong to Anjalee Pump as part of the Shillong-Dawki road project. However, the scope was later expanded to extend the flyover up to Barik.
The proposed alignment has also been presented to the Defence authorities for necessary clearances.
