Former Beatle star Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell are officially the UK and Ireland’s richest musical power couple, worth 710 million pounds.
The 71-year-old musician has added 30 million pounds to the wealth he shares with his wife Nancy, 53, in the past year, says the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
Nancy’s 150 million pounds stake in her family’s US trucking operation puts them ahead of Irish rockers U2, at 428 million pounds, and Mick Jagger, worth 215 million pounds.
Rising quickly up the list is Simon Cowell, 54, who is worth 300 million pounds. His contracts for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘The X Factor’ have helped to boost his coffers by 50 million pounds in a year – despite his X Factor musical flopping in the West End. Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor’ proteges One Direction have a combined pile of 70 million pounds, which makes them Britain and Ireland’s wealthiest-ever boy band.
Singer Adele has racked up 45 million pounds even while taking time off to look after her baby, Angelo.
The 26-year-old singer is 15 million pounds ahead of Calvin Harris, the highest new entry to the young musicians list.
Harris is followed by Cheryl Cole, who is worth 16 million pounds thanks to album sales, her new X Factor deal and lucrative modelling contracts. (PTI)
