SHILLONG, Jan 24: In line with the central government’s priority on employment generation, the 18th Rozgar Mela was organised at the BSF Campus in Umpling on Saturday. During the event, the Border Security Force (BSF) distributed 155 appointment letters to selected candidates from Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
The distribution included 76 candidates for the BSF, 42 for the CRPF, 20 for the ITBP and 11 for the Assam Rifles, among other central departments.
Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Om Prakash Upadhyay, who was the chief guest, congratulated the recruits and described the Rozgar Mela as a key initiative to provide the next generation with platforms for national service.
He noted that their roles in various departments carry the significant responsibility of safeguarding the country and contributing to its economic growth.
BSF DIG Ratan Lal Bagaria, who delivered the welcome address, said that the initiative aims to make the youths a driving force for a self-reliant India.
He highlighted that since its launch in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela has been conducted across the country to streamline government recruitment.
The programme also featured a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who interacted with recruits nationwide.
The prime minister noted that more than 61,000 young men and women received appointments, representing a collective pledge to accelerate national development.
He added that government recruitment is being carried out in “mission mode” to ensure transparency and speed.
