Purnea/Kishanganj, Feb 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah began a three-day tour of Bihar on Wednesday, focusing on the strategically sensitive Seemanchal region, known for its proximity to Nepal and Bangladesh and its importance as a gateway to the Siliguri Corridor, or “Chicken’s Neck.”
During the visit, Shah attended multiple functions, reviewed “demographic changes,” and chaired a meeting of the Land Ports Authority of India in Kishanganj, Bihar’s only Muslim-majority district.
He is expected to meet officials overseeing the Indo-Nepal border to discuss measures against drug smuggling and circulation of counterfeit currency.
Shah will also visit Araria to inspect border infrastructure, interact with Sashastra Seema Bal personnel, and inaugurate a new SSB Bhawan before concluding the tour in Purnea.
Senior BJP leaders, including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, welcomed him, highlighting the political and security significance of the visit. (PTI)
