SHILLONG, Feb 27: The ten-day Budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday after exhaustive discussions and debates on various burning issues concerning the state and its people.
The session was adjourned with the State and National anthems but not before key legislations were passed in the House.
On the last day of the session, the Meghalaya Prisons and Correctional Services Bill, 2026, The Park University Meghalaya Bill, 2026, Meghalaya Police (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Meghalaya Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Meghalaya Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2026, and the Institute of Public Health Shillong Bill, 2026, were passed.
After the session, members of both the ruling and Opposition were seen meeting and greeting each other showcasing the spirit of unity in democracy.
