After months of anticipation, Dhurandhar: The Revenge released nationwide on Thursday, generating a strong audience response.
The film, starring Ranveer Singh, opened on the back of record advance bookings, with over 15 lakh tickets sold, including paid previews on Wednesday. The sequel follows the success of the first Dhurandhar,”which earned Rs 1,300 crore globally after its December 2025 release.
Early viewers in Mumbai praised the movie as a “paisa vasool” experience, with many planning repeat visits despite its four-hour runtime. Singh’s performance received particular acclaim, with audiences describing him as “absolutely nailed it.”
Supporting actors Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun were lauded as standout performers. Director Aditya Dhar, known for Uri: The Surgical Strike, also earned accolades for his detailed direction and storytelling, with fans calling for more films in his style.
Several celebrities shared their admiration on social media. Actor Allu Arjun described the film as “patriotism with swag,” while Priety Zinta called it “mindblowing” across direction, acting, music, and editing.
Actor Vijay Deverakond predicted that the film would create a cultural impact in Indian cinema.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, the movie charts the journey of Ranveer Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who becomes covert operative Hamza Ali Mazari, navigating Pakistan’s underworld while revealing his origins.
The cast includes R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with the film released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
While the film received widespread praise for action, performances, and storytelling, a sequence referencing India’s 2016 demonetisation sparked social media debate.
