Guv helps over 23 organisations with financial aid of nearly Rs 1 cr

SHILLONG, March 25: In a push to support community-driven initiatives, Governor CH Vijayashankar on Wednesday distributed financial aid to 23 institutions and organisations across Meghalaya under his Discretionary Grant.
The total assistance amounted to Rs 99.70 lakh benefiting a wide spectrum of recipients including cultural groups, academic institutions, social organisations, community bodies and sports associations. Notable beneficiaries included Harmini Preparatory Music Academy, Biate Cultural Organisation of Meghalaya, Capt. Williamson Sangma State University, besides several schools and grassroots organisations.
Speaking at the programme, the Governor said the financial support is expected to bolster efforts in education, cultural conservation and community welfare. He noted that strengthening institutions at the grassroots level remains key to ensuring balanced and inclusive growth across the state.
Principal Secretary to the Governor, HC Chaudhary, also attended the event.
