WKH seize lead but EKH in the hunt

Inter-school athletics meet

SHILLONG: West Khasi Hills grabbed provisional first place in the medals table on the second day of the State Level Inter School Athletic Meet at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, on Thursday.

Nineteen track and field events will be contested on the final day of the meet on Friday and the closing ceremony will take place at 5:00pm.

North Garo Hills dropped from first to sixth place on Thursday after adding only one more gold medal to their tally of three from the first day. NGH did, however, add a further three silver and two bronze.

West Khasi Hills were second on Wednesday with two gold, one silver and two bronze and took their total to 16 medals on Thursday with the addition of four gold medals, four silver and three bronze.

East Khasi Hills, however, will be firmly in the hunt for the top spot on the closing day as they have a total of 23 medals to their name (5G, 11S, 7B)

West Jaintia Hills are currently in third place with Ri-Bhoi following close behind.

South Garo Hills, meanwhile, notched up a medal – a gold in the U-14 boys 100m race. South West Garo Hills, however, are still without a medal.
