NONGPOH, April 4: Two occupants of a Maruti 800 taxi had a narrow escape on Saturday after their vehicle hit a traffic police point and was subsequently rammed by a truck on National Highway 6.
The incident occurred around 11 am near the Bethany Hospital Outreach at Pahamsyiem village.
Reports indicate that the taxi (ML10C6892) first crashed into a traffic police booth in the middle of the highway before being struck by a Guwahati-bound truck (AS01RC8435).
The taxi driver, Markus Mawphniang of Korstep village, and a co-passenger escaped without serious injuries. The car, however, sustained heavy damage to its front section.
Nongpoh police arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
